Used in conjunction with the Nuffield Operational Amplifier this circuit demonstrates the effect of a positive or negative output from the differential amplifier on oppositely biased LEDs.
This board allows different resistor combinations to be set up and investigated. Experience has shown that they are best used in the class situation by having a number of boards set up with various resistor combinations. The pupils then rotate, investigating each board in turn. This way, once set up there should be no need to change any of the resistors.
This equipment is designed to sit on top of an overhead projector. When a current is applied for a brief period the compass needles are seen to form a circular pattern around the conductor. The compasses, which have glass on both sides, are not included in the price but can be purchased separately – see price list.
