Our Planetary System – an interactive CD.
Outcome SCN-06a expects pupils to use a simple model to demonstrate an understanding of our planetary system.
The model “Our Planetary System” (Code No. 700/05) as detailed later in this section certainly covers this outcome. However the CD can be used to reinforce the knowledge gained or even as an alternative with the advantage of whole class participation at a lower cost.
The CD allows pupils to discover for themselves the position and relative sizes of our planets as well as giving them an understanding of the factors which govern the seasons of the year.
However the best way to evaluate its potential is to try it for yourself.
The demonstration walks you through the video (Please note the mistakes are deliberate ). You can move to full screen mode by clicking on the icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. You can stop/start the video at any time by simply clicking anywhere on the screen, if at certain points it is going too fast.
Unfortunately the quality becomes degraded when uploaded to the web site. I can assure you however that the quality of the text and graphics in the CD will be crystal clear.
